Description
In 2021, statistics show that women own 31% of small businesses or franchises in the US, 17% of Black women are in the process of starting or running a new business. and the female entrepreneurial activity rate in the United States is 16.6%. By all metrics, women are an important force in entrepreneurship! This course exposes students to the exciting world of business ownership. Key elements of the entrepreneurship experience will be explored: business structures, financial statement preparation and analysis (accounting principles), marketing/advertising, types of financing/funding, social entrepreneurship and stock market basics. Ultimately, students will create a detailed business plan for their own, proposed business and then “pitch” their ideas to our class.

What are the key elements of a business plan to attract funding?
