Summer in Farmington, summer leadership programs for girls

Summer in Farmington

Institute of Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship

Offered in Partnership with the Institute of Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at Miss Porter’s School

Our academic institutes introduce girls grades 6-9 to the key tenets of the Miss Porter’s School learning environment, which are interdisciplinary in nature and global in scope. Girls learn beyond the classroom by conducting field research, interacting with leaders in their respective fields, and developing skills through real world application and hands-on experience.

The Institute of Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at Miss Porter’s School is a catalyst to fields that define the world of tomorrow, preparing girls to become global citizens in a technology-driven society.

Programs fill on a first-come, first-served basis. A non-refundable deposit payment must be made to reserve a space at the time of registration in a program by check or credit card. All payments made after May 30 are non-refundable.

International campers are required to submit TOEFL scores and complete a virtual interview to assess English language proficiency.

Idea Lab

Dates: July 12 – 18, 2026

Tuition: Boarding $1750 | Day $1350

Prerequisite: None

Ages: 11-14

Idea Lab allows girls to study and work in the interconnected fields of science, technology, and innovation. Girls explore the concept of human-centered design thinking as a framework for problem solving before implementing this framework through a series of technological challenges, business practices, and design projects. Girls expand their understanding of how this framework can be used to address social issues in a technologically-driven society. They will use the Porter’s Innovation Lab (iLab) to prototype solutions to social issues relevant to their lives using computer coding, laser cutting, and 3D printing. Girls share their final projects through a Pitch Competition, where they will showcase their projects and learning.

Learning Objectives:

Campers will learn and apply human-centered design thinking principles to identify and address problems.

Campers will acquire hands-on experience with essential technological tools, such as computer coding, laser cutting, and 3D printing, to create prototypes that address social issues, integrating technology with their design solutions.

Campers will refine their communication and research skills through participation in the Pitch Competition, demonstrating their ability to articulate their design process, the impact of their solutions, and the relevance of their projects to real-world social issues.

Technology, Arts, and AI: Future Creator’s Lab

Dates: July 19 – 25, 2026

Tuition: Boarding $1750 | Day $1350

Prerequisite: None, but it is an excellent follow-up to Idea Lab.

Ages: 11-14

Future Creator’s Lab offers girls hands-on experiences designed to bridge the fields of technology, art, and artificial intelligence (AI). In the Porter’s Innovation Lab (iLab), girls explore the realm of digital art creation, gaining practical skills in these cutting-edge fields. Girls investigate how digital advances are reshaping art expression and study the transformative impact of AI on technology and innovation. By blending creativity with technical expertise, this program offers a unique opportunity to envision and create the future of art and technology.

Learning Objectives:

Campers will develop practical skills in digital art creation, learning how to merge artistic expression with technological tools.

Campers will investigate how AI is influencing both technology and art, analyzing how AI can be used to push the boundaries of both fields.

Campers will blend creativity with technical skills to engage in problem-solving activities, simulating real-world, complex challenges.

Why choose our camp?
